HIGHLIGHTS
Ken has been practicing law in Portland, Maine, since 1985, with a primary focus on Family Law. He is the former Chair of the Maine State Bar Association Family Law section, as well as the section’s former secretary and Legislative Liaison. He has taught courses in Family Law for the University of Southern Maine’s and Andover College’s paralegal programs and is a frequent lecturer for the Maine State Bar Association.
Ken is a Fellow and the national Vice President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He was the Chair of the Institute for Family Law Associates committee and the Director of the annual training program the committee develops until assuming the vice presidency of the Academy. Ken is also the editor of the Academy newsletter.
Ken is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and serves as a Director of the IAML. Ken is a coauthor of the Guardian ad Litem statute enacted into law in February of 1994. He chaired the first six training programs developed for Guardians ad Litem in the State of Maine and presented the section on Family Law. He is a member of the National Association of Counsel for Children. In 1995, Ken was appointed by the Chief Justice of the State of Maine Supreme Judicial Court to the Committee to Study the Role of the Courts in Protecting Children. In 1996, Ken was appointed by the Chief Justice of the State of Maine Supreme Judicial Court to the Committee to Develop a Guardian ad Litem Training and Certification Program. He was also selected to serve as a Volunteer Neutral for the Alternative Dispute Resolution program developed at the behest of the Supreme Judicial Court.
Ken is also the co-host for the morning drive talk radio show on 560 WGAN.
